CDAM Appointments Being a member of CDAM has many benefits including being able to represent the organization while sitting on boards that are important to criminal defense attorneys all over the state. Check out these options below. Michigan Community Correction Board One seat is designated for the criminal defense community, selected by CDAM's President. CDAM's representative is Tiffany DeBruin. Michigan Consortium on Law Enforcement CDAM is given one seat on the MCCOLES board, appointed by Michigan's Governor for a list of three submitted by CDAM. CDAM representative is Arthur J. Weiss. Michigan Indigent Defense Commission CDAM currently has three representatives on the MIDC: Michael Carter, Loren Khogali, and Glenn Simmington, whose terms expire April 1, 2028. CDAM three representatives are appointed by Michigan's Governor from a list of nine (9) individuals submitted by CDAM. There are restrictions as to who can serve of the Commission, “[a]ny person who receives compensation from this state or an indigent criminal defense system for providing…representation to indigent adults in state courts is ineligible to serve as a member on the MIDC.” Michigan Mental Health Diversion Council CDAM is given on seat on the Michigan Mental Health Diversion Council. The representative has experience representing individuals with mental illness. This is a 3 year term expires on January 30, 2028. Michigan Sentencing Commission CDAM has one eat on the Michigan Sentencing Commission, appointed by the Michigan State Senate Leader, from a list of three names. State Bar of Michigan Criminal Law Section CDAM is given one seat on the SBM Criminal Law Section. Our current representative is Harry Mihas. Appointments are made the CDAM's president. |
